The claim of an iPhone that works on both CDMA and GSM isn’t new, with Shammo merely reiterating it Reuters’ technology summits.
It’s also claimed the iPhone 5 (or 4S depending on who you speak to) will not feature LTE technology for faster networking speeds though, with Apple aiming for worldwide compatibility ahead of new networking technology. Verizon isn’t apparently none too worried about that plan of action, presumably due to the umpteen LTE-equipped Android devices already on their books.
Shammo also shared information on new data tariffs that will come to the carrier, with tiered pricing a possibility moving forward, writes Electronista.
Along with iPhone plans, Shammo also said family plans would get shared data plans after the switch to tiered pricing. An end to unlimited on-device data plans was still on track for the summer, but he said it was sure Verizon would have “mega-plans” where a certain number of devices had a larger pool of data.
Apple’s next iphone is either a souped up version of the iPhone 4 or a completely redesigned model to take Apple into battle with the new bread of Android devices, depending on who you believe. This writer tends to lean toward the theory Apple will offer more iteration than revolution with its next smartphone, though anything could happen when Steve Jobs puts sneaker to stage!
