Jailbreak iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and iPod Touch 3G on iOS 4.1 Using Sn0wbreeze [Guide]


iH8sn0w has released the new version of Snowbreeze 1.8 beta to jailbreak the iOS 4.1 beta for iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and iPod Touch 3G. It is to remind you that iOS 4.1 beta is released only for developers and many features are being expected in the upcoming iOS 4.1 final version like Game Center, Turning On/Off spell check etc.

Please note it that Snowbreeze 1.8 beta can jailbreak the following idevices only:
  • iPhone 3GS (old bootrom and already pre-jailbroken on iOS 4.0, see the instruction here to jailbreak iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.0)
  • iPod Touch 2G (non-MC models only)
  • iPod Touch 3G

Here is Step by Step Guide to Jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and iPod Touch 3G:

Step 1: Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Step 2: Sync and backup your iPhone’s all data like settings, contacts, photos, music and apps using the itunes.
Step 3: Download Snowbreeze 1.8 version and iOS 4.1 and keep them on your desktop.
Step 4: Open the snowbreeze and select the simple mode. If you want to enable multitasking, background wallpapers and battery percentage, select Expert Mode.
Step 5: Click the Browse button and select the iOS 4.1 firmware (currently available only for developers).
Step 6: If the firmware is correct, you will see the confirmation message. Now click Next to proceed.
Step 7: If you selected the Simple Mode, snowbreeze will ask if you want to activate (hacktivation) your iPhone. Click No if you are already using the supported carrier.
Step 8: Click Next and snowbreeze will create a custom firmware of iOS 4.1. The custom firmware will contain the word “snowbreeze” before the file name.
Step 9: Now to restore the custom iOS 4.1, connect your iPhone to iTunes. Click your device in the sidebar of itunes and press and hold the left “Shift button” on keyboard and then click on “Restore” button (not the “Update” or “Check for update“).
Step 10: You will be prompted for the location of custom firmware. Select the newly cooked firmware and proceed. Now sit back and let the snowbreeze work to complete installation.
Step 11: After the installation is completed, resync your all data and enjoy jailbroken iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.1.
